Urban Industrial Design Style

An aesthetic trend in interior design that takes clues from old factories and industrial spaces that in recent years have been converted to lofts and other living spaces. Components of industrial style include weathered wood, building systems, exposed brick, industrial lighting fixtures and concrete.

Contemporary Modern Design Style

Defined by simplicity, subtle sophistication, deliberate use of texture, and clean lines. Interiors tend to showcase space rather than things. By focusing on color, space, and shape, contemporary interiors are sleek and fresh.

Scandinavian-Design Style

Traditionally marked by simplicity, bright whites, natural wood tones, folk style ornamentation, and color washed furnishings and trims. Hues of medium blues, bright reds, and pleasant greens, pinks, and yellows are common throughout Scandinavian design.

How do you manage client expectations?

To start, I work with my clients and communicate clearly about setting realistic budget required to execute the desired outcome set by my clients.

How do you mange cost?

As interior space designers, we have the ability, through our “for the trade“ business relationships to purchase the best quality furniture at a discount. We share this discount with our clients. In other words, you will have access to a greater variety of furniture selection. Also better quality furniture at a reduced price. When you factor in our hourly rate, you must consider your ability to have access to a wider range of selections.  Therefore the cost of working with an interior space designer is quantifiable. We help clients achieve the look they desire for their projects while preventing costly design errors.

What if I have several key pieces I don’t want to part with, can they be blended in with my new design?

Most people will enter into a decorating project with a full house of furniture. We ask our clients to tell us what they like most about each key piece and which they dislike. For example, if a client has a treasured 1920’s side table or black lacquered china cabinet they love, we will work them into their design.

I just inherited an antique piece of furniture but I love Contemporary designs how will you make it work in my house?

It is a key feature of many beautiful homes. I consider it the perfect mix with contemporary design throughout a space. Adding a few pieces from your own family’s history is a sure way to bring some character and personality to your home.

Who else is on your team?

The design team will include team members inside and outside of the design firm. Internal members may include a business manager, scheduler, expediter, or other interior designers. External members may include installers, crafts people and general or sub-contractors.

When there are problems on the job, how do you resolve them?

There are always problems on both remodel and decorating jobs. ALWAYS. Backordered or discontinued products, freight damage, wrong item has shipped, wrong quantity has shipped, and unexpected issues during demolition or construction… the list of potential problems is long. Even the smallest design or decorating job will run into at least one issue. Being prepared in advance by having a back-up plan that could include working with local subcontractors.
